About Shawn L., Founder of VYBE’N for Change

a passionate advocate for community empowerment and healing. Born and raised in New Orleans, LA, Shawn experienced the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, which shaped their lifelong commitment to helping others as a way to cope with personal challenges.

This commitment is the foundation of Shawn’s nonprofit work. Through VYBE’N for Change, Shawn has led impactful initiatives like the VYBE’N for Kids Toy-A-THON, a metaverse-based toy drive for hospitalized children, and the Color Me Smart Back-to-School Drive, which in August 2024 collected over 3,000 school supplies for two public schools in Washington, D.C.

Shawn’s dedication to service extends beyond VYBE’N for Change. As the Charitable Initiatives District Captain for Ann Taylor, Shawn worked with organizations such as St. Jude’s and Susan G. Komen, leading efforts to support important causes. Additionally, Shawn has volunteered with Woodbridge HUGS Homeless Outreach, further demonstrating their commitment to uplifting those in need.

In addition to these efforts, Shawn has created support groups to address critical issues. VYBE Against Violence provides support for women impacted by domestic violence, and 1st Heartbeat offers comfort to women coping with the loss of an infant. Shawn is also a proud member of the NAACP, standing alongside others in the fight for social justice, equality, and community advancement.

Shawn’s life goal is to leave a lasting footprint in the world—one that will never be washed away. A footprint that sparks a contagious sense of community, inspiring others to get involved and make a difference in each other’s lives.

For Shawn, giving back isn’t just a mission—it’s a deeply personal journey of resilience and hope. By fostering connection, creativity, and compassion, Shawn continues to inspire meaningful change in the lives of others.
